More prison privatization horror!

As states hemorrhage money they are selling off assets in an attempt to remain solvent. You can thank the Congress and current Administration for not supply sufficient quantities of FIAT MONEY.

Anyway, as a result of these self imposed state austerity programs entire prison systems  are being privatized. This creates the potential for some very scary abuse because the prison companies need an ever expanding prison population to grow and be profitable.

We've already seen an example of this in the recent conviction of a judge who was involved in a "cash for kids" scheme. That's right, this judge was sending KIDS to prison for money.

Corrections Corporation of America recently sent letters to a number of state governors telling them the company was prepared to buy and maintain prison systems but only if state prison agencies met CCA's condition of ensuring that the prison remained at least 90% full. Translation: We’ll buy your prisons and keep ‘em orderly and clean, so as long you keep the prisoners coming in! Read article here.

It goes further, too. The prison companies are "leasing out" prisoners to large corporations at below-minimum-wage rates. This is forced labor that undercuts the earnings and job prospects of regular, non-incarcerated workers.

America is truly becoming a scary place.

Hey, I said some time ago to get out while you can unless one chooses to commit to staying and resisting "in the belly of the tiger." It's getting ugly and will get uglier.

man wtf.

these two articles came across my desk today as well.

It appears the subsidized student loan rate is set to expire in July and the "plan" is to double it to 6.8%. Not only that but the rate of college grad UE and under E is only getting worse. Talk about output gap based on retarded leaders not understanding their own freaking economy! Not only that but we bail out the evil ones that caused this mess while we charge the innocent students just graduating college. GREAT!

if the state cant come up with the funds to run a prison, how is a private company going to come up with the funds? if the war on drugs is federal, why dont the federal government fund the prisons?
