I thought it was going to be "the American Bar Association", which reminds me.... the District of Columbia is the only "state" bar that allows non-lawyers to be partners in law firms. Of course this was done to benefit lobbyists who never went to law school.
I'd often think it would be a fun statute to slip into the US Code (I guess the DC city council could do it too) to reverse that policy and require law firms to "temporarily suspend" their lobbyist partners until after they've passed the DC bar. :o)
Speaking of "the other ABA", I see that Stephen Colbert's lawyer (Trevor Potter) chairs its lobbying reform committee and has some sound proposals.
