This would put China in control of the Eurasian land mass, which is the geographical pivot of history in MacKinder's heartland theory. This would also link nuclear armed China and Russia in an economic alliance that would dominate Europe and be impervious to US intervention once ramped up. It's Zbigniew Brzezinski's worst nightmare, so look for the US to attempt to disrupt the plan.
