Putler should offer Greece a membership in the Eurasian Union if they leave the EU.. Our Angie would be very, very displeased.
BTW, Oliver Stone's book or series "Untold History" covers this subject in detail. Highly recommended.
Purpose of NATO: so that East Germany doesn't look like East Ukraine. Pretty simple.
Russia should believe ... because that's what the Middle Class of every NATO country believes.
Why won't Russians drink our Kool-Aid?
They drink everything else.
Maybe vodka includes some remedy for Kool-Aid. :(
Roger, they did believe and got a fist in the face.
After the break up of the USSR they expected to be welcomed into Europe. The US had other ideas. Russia became a neoliberal mafia morass and Putin rescued them. He was still open to joining Europe but not on US terms as a vassal state providing resources and allowing US firms to dominate the Russian economy in partnership with the corrupt oligarchs that had been enriched under "liberalization" iaw US economists like Jeffrey Sachs. Now doormats with the American flag on them are selling like hotcakes, as is Obama toilet paper.
