Roland Oliphant — How Vladimir Putin's military firepower compares to the West

Russia is quickly rearming and increasing arms sales abroad.

It would be a good thing for Russia to approximate conventional parity with NATO but that is probably unachievable. 

The result is that Russia is dependent on its nuclear deterrent and projecting a commitment to using it if necessary by preparing for nuclear war. That it is doing.
