Southfront — Turkey Demands To Stop Bombings On Aleppo City

All attacks on the city of Aleppo, in northern Syria, including air strikes, must be stopped immediately, the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said on Monday.

“All attacks on Aleppo, including air strikes, must be discontinued immediately. Turkey’s support for the Syrian people will be continued,” the Anadolu news agency quoted the words of Cavusoglu.
The statement was made during the meeting between Mevlut Cavusoglu and the General Coordinator of the High Negotiations Committee (the main opposition bloc in Syria), Riad Hijab.
It seems that the resetting of relations between Russia and Turkey has ended before it could properly begin.
The Chair of the US Joint Chiefs was just in Turkey "to smooth things over" after the coup attempt. Looks like he made Erdogan a deal he couldn't refuse.

...or a threat he couldn't ignore.

Why would the fall of Aleppo be a threat that Erdogan couldn't ignore? He just made up with Assad and the fall of Aleppo would pretty much windup up the rebellion, leaving only ISIS to deal with.

I'll leave it to your imagination as to what threat would cause him to flip-flop yet again. Or it could have been a deal he couldn't refuse. It could be all carrot or a mix of carrot and stick. Perhaps he's mentally ill.

A recent discussion prompts me to ask if Erdogan is married.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Emine Gülbaran married on 4 February 1978. The couple has four children: Ahmet Burak Erdoğan, Sümeyye, who married defense industrialist engineer Selçuk Bayraktar in May 2016,[2] Necmettin Bilal, and Esra.[3]

Interestingly, she is of Arab rather than Turkish descent.
