Lenin on dialectic

V. I. Lenin quote on dialectic as "spiral" knowledge.

There are three aspects of dialectic.
  • The first is logical dialectic, as exemplified in Hegel's Logic.
  • The second is epistemological dialectic, as in this Lenin quote.
  • The third is historical dialectic as demonstrated in the Hegel's Phenomenology and also in the works of Marx and Engels.
They all involve circular-cyclical progression in terms of the whole rather than the assumption of linear "progress" toward either a goal or an infinite horizon such as was exhibited in much 19th and 20th century Western thinking.
