Whitney Webb — How a NeoCon-Backed “Fact Checker” Plans to Wage War on Independent Media

Prediction: This is going to backfire big time. The boy has cried wolf too many times.

I  for one will be looking for the red flags to identify the real news.

The next step will be a legal requirement that everyone who wants to surf the web must get an “Internet license."

In April everyone in the UK will be required to provide personal identification in order to access any web site that contains at least one third pornographic material.

It is not yet clear how Internet users will verify their personal identity. (Driver’s license number? National ID number? Bank information?)

As always, this horrendous attack on civil liberties is “for the kids.” (Pornography is supposedly harmful to kids, but gender reassignment surgery is not.)

The attack is also to “stop human trafficking,” stop “violence against women,” and so on.

The UK government will block porn sites that decline to implement personal ID verification controls.

This is the first step toward the eventual goal, which is to legally require everyone to present his personal ID before he can access the Internet. Naturally the European Commission is all in favor of this.

In this way your reading habits will be tracked, and will affect your eligibility for jobs, for government benefits, and so on. Reading too much of the “wrong” information will result in your Internet “privileges” being suspended or revoked, and may result in your arrest, as though you have viewed kiddie porn. Also your bank account may be frozen.

This will be far more powerful and effective than censorship.

And remember…it’s “for the kids.”

Social media will be targeted with "takedown times" designed to force them to immediately purge anti-establishment “hate speech.”

The UK law will create a new body to control the Internet in much the same way as Ofcom UK regulates TV, radio and telecom companies.

It's real, and it's happening now.

Last year the German government passed a law requiring social media platforms to remove illegal “hate speech” (such as questioning Israeli atrocities) within 24 hours or face fines of up to 50 million euros.
