Either you guarantee employment, or you guarantee there will be unemployment.” – Pavlina Tcherneva

Prior to the pandemic, the consequences of 10 years of cuts to public spending and government policies had already left people in precarious employment and on low wages – in poverty. The future is now even more uncertain for many of those people who will be joined by many others fearing equally for their prospects. ‘Can I get a job?’ ‘Will I still have a job to go to?’ And for young people ‘What sort of future will I have?’ Those fears are translating into falling consumer confidence and spending. Andy Haldane’s ‘V-shaped recovery’ is looking less and less likely as people worry about the prospect of redundancy and decide instead to save what they can (and if they can) just in case the worst happens....

She means discretionary spending, outside the military, automatic stabilizers, welfare for the rich etc. Like the fall in government employment under Obama, cuts to public health etc.

Well Matt didn’t understand Pavlina or he decided to play stupid since she’s not known to be a right winger nut job and as usually he started to babble about govt spending all time high and Trump is the face for that so that’s how it got to be about Trump.

What's more important?

1) That one does not own a home or that one is not a wage slave?
2) That one does not have a fair income (i.e. a Citizen's Dividend) or that one is not a wage-slave?
3) That one does not have the resources to provide for his family and himself or that one is not a wage slave?
4) That one may not do work he/she finds meaningful or that one is not a wage slave?

I'll remind y'all that the Hebrews had well-fed "jobs" as slaves in Egypt and indeed some wished to return to that life but God had better plans for them as family farmers and landowners.
