Pretty astonishing if the figures are in the ballpark — especially considering that China has a technocratic economic system that is supposed to underperform theoretically. Back to the drawing boards?

I suspect the Chinese leadership know their form of capitalism is unjust (but capable of great growth in the short to moderate run) so they are not hindered by idealogical concerns from making pragmatic adjustments as necessary.

The US and the West, otoh, suffers under the delusion that our economic system is just (and therefore TINA) when it isn't.

Not that pragmatism is ideal or even good but it's better than blind stupidity.
