RussiaFeed — Vladimir Putin SLAMS the US for its past, present and likely future
Previously, Putin has generally sounded conciliatory. Now the gloves are coming off?
Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered one of his most wide reaching criticisms of the United States to-date, during his Q and A session at the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi.
Putin described a worsening Moscow-Washington relationship that dates back to the 1990s when an ‘untrustworthy’ west took advantage of Russia’s weak leadership in the age of Yeltsin, Gaidar and Chubais....
“Our biggest mistake was that we trusted you too much. You interpreted our trust as weakness and you exploited that…
What we got in return is well-known: a complete disregard for our national interests, support for separatism in the Caucasus, a circumvention of the United Nations Security Council, the bombing of Yugoslavia, the invasion of Iraq, and so on. The US must have seen the state of our nuclear weapons and economy and decided to do away with international law”.
He continued,
“They started to openly interfere in the sovereign affairs of countries and to export democracy in the same way as in their time the Soviet leadership tried to export the Socialist revolution to the whole world”....
The Russian President then turned to the subject of weapons reductions, stating that because the US refuses to engage in proper treaties on the matter, Russia has had to act unilaterally to disarm. Russia recently destroyed its last chemical weapons stocks while the US refused to do the same. President Putin described the phenomenon in the following way,RussiaFeed“We destroyed everything, and then our American partners said – ‘Not yet, we don’t have money.’ So, they have a dollar printing press, yet they don’t have money. But we, on the other hand, do?”...

Reuters — Moscow warns it may restrict U.S. media in Russia
“We have never used Russian law in relation to foreign correspondents as a lever of pressure, or censorship, or some kind of political influence, never,” [Russian Federation foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria]] Zakharova said in an interview with Russia’s NTV broadcaster. “But this is a particular case.”
She cited a 1991 Russian law which, she said, stated that if a Russian media outlet is subject to restrictions in a foreign country, then Moscow has the right to impose proportionate restrictions on media outlets from that country operating inside Russia.
“Correspondingly, everything that Russian journalists and the RT station are subject to on U.S. soil, after we qualified it as restriction of their activities, we can apply similar measures to American journalists, American media here, on Russian territory,” Zakharova said.…
She said it made no difference from the Russian government’s point of view if those outlets were backed by the U.S. state, or privately-funded.US-Russian relations further sour.

China says it will never allow war or chaos on its doorstep as tensions escalate on Korean Peninsula
It is crucial that unlike many previous statements, today’s was made not by the Chinese Foreign Ministry but by the Defense Ministry. This sends a clear message that the People’s Liberation Army will not tolerate any military action by foreign powers on the Korean peninsula, namely the United States.
This is the first time that the Chinese Defence Ministry has clearly made such a statement with previous allusions to such things deriving from the Chinese media.Having borders with North Korea, China and Russia draw a red line.
A similar ironclad commitment to the ‘double-freeze’ was further made at yesterday’s session of the United Nations Security Council by Russia’s Ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya.

RT — Tillerson says allies pleading with US to ‘improve Russia relations’ as Senate agrees new sanct
All of America’s allies and partners have been calling on Washington to improve its relations with Russia, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson acknowledged after the US Senate reached a bipartisan deal to boost sanctions against Moscow.
“I have yet to have a bilateral, one-on-one, a poolside conversation with a single counterpart in any country: in Europe, Middle East, even South-East Asia, that has not said to me: please, address your relationship with Russia, it has to be improved,” Tillerson said on Tuesday during testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Foreign Operations.
Tillerson added that the countries urging the US to review its Russian policy “believe worsening this relationship will ultimately worsen theirsituation.”
He added: “People have been imploring me to engage and try to improve the situation, so, that was our approach anyway.”
How to lose allies.
Even vassals have interests and will be willing to act on them if they perceive it in their overall interest, especially when they are bearing the burden and the US is only the one benefitting.
US hardline policy is classic overreach. Don't be surprised if there is a reaction against US global hegemony and unipolarism in international relations.

Sputnik — Trump Faces Many Obstacles to Enhancing US-Russian Relations
I suspect that the decisive factor in the outcome will be Henry Kissinger and he seems to be pro-detente and setting up an understanding among the US, Russia and China that avoids conflict, which is the opposite of what the bipartisan war party and MIC (military-industrial complex) want. Kissinger is likely Trump's ace in the hole.
