Socialism Without Anti-Imperialism: A Different Flavor of Tyranny — Comrade Hermit (Nicky Reid)

"Libertarian socialism."
The reality is, if you really break it down, socialism is just some system of governance which affords some form of social ownership over the means of production. Democrats and Republicans alike have almost always supported some variant of socialist policy when it suits them. I myself follow a decidedly purist strain of this philosophy often referred to as libertarian socialism.
While in the past I've danced with the devil of full-tilt Bolshevism and I continue to stubbornly defend the legacy of Third World state socialists like Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, I've come to the hard fought conclusion that the only way for truly empowered social ownership of basic human rights like healthcare and education to exist is for it to be wholly decentralized, voluntary and operated from the bottom up. The idea of Bernie's Medicare for All just sounds like swapping masters to me, from corporate bag munchers to federal bag munchers. I'm already experiencing Medicare for Some as a legally disabled agoraphobic and let me tell you, there is exactly nothing empowering about it. I feel like shit being barely strung along by the very same folks who brought us Waco, Ludlow and My Lai, and that brings me to the biggest bug I have up my ass about millennial socialism....

Some humour to lighten the gloom — Duncan Green

Don’t know about you, but watching the daily news isn’t much fun these days (nor is the weather/climate), and this week in particular, I am sorely in need of light relief. There was even a riot at my local swimming pool yesterday.

So back to the abandoned series of ‘Friday funnies’: here’s a few previous FP2P posts that might just qualify. Coincidentally, they are the ones that the people I talk to often remember best. Hope they are acceptable – I once received a complaint because the refugees on the cover of a newsletter I had just edited were laughing, ‘so they can’t possibly be refugees’. Sigh....

Riley Waggaman — Useful Idiots at Washington Post Publish Obvious Kremlin Disinfo, Discredit American Journalism Forever

The Washington Post has exposed 200 mostly random websites as digital fronts for the Russian government. The problem is that the obscure blog they cite is basically brain cell genocide. Only the sinister Russians could make one of America's most cherished newspapers look so silly — right?
Humor is the ultimate smackdown.

Giving MMT new meaning (humor)

Here’s where an established body of literature in sociology and demography – called mating market theory (MMT) – can help out. According to MMT, relationship preferences are expected to follow not simply from these fixed biological propensities, but also to be heavily influenced by partner availability.
If we think of the number of men and women in market terms, namely supply and demand, the rarer sex has more bargaining power in the market place. Individuals of the less numerous sex are more likely to get their way because they are awash with options. In theory, they can, if not pleased with a relationship, or terms therein, easily replace a disappointing partner.
The more abundant sex, by contrast, has fewer outside options and must cater to the preferences of the rarer sex. For example, when there are extra women, men face a favorable market and can behave promiscuously, offering little parental investment to their mates. However, when women are in short supply, they can demand relationship faithfulness and commitment – with men responding because female partners are rare and therefore a valued resource.

CBO warns of impending email scarcity

May 23, 2014

Washington- The Congressional Budget Office today released a report warning of an impending scarcity of electronic messages and digital data communications, commonly known as ‘emails'. “For too long, Americans have been recklessly sending emails, with no regard to future emails”, said CBO director Douglas Elmendorf. “We are now downgrading our Outlook outlook for the next 10 years. Unless Congress can get it’s emailing under control, our nation’s ability to send digital communications in the future will be compromised.”

According to the report, at the current rate of emailing, even our retirees who still use MSN could be in danger. Additionally, the Gmail Trust Fund is running low, and is on track to be completely defunct of clicking-capacity by 2032. Fix the Emails CEO Paul Paulson was quick to join the fray, saying “for too many years, we have been sending more emails than we have been receiving. This profligate emailing is unsustainable, and we immediately need to enact reforms to get us on a path to balanced-emailing. Its not like we can just create these things out of thin air!” Former Wyoming Senator Bart Simpson added: “40 years ago when I was 83, we were still buying stamps and licking envelopes. If we’re not careful, the country could be forced to default back to snail mail. How will my long-lost Nigerian relatives contact me then?” said the nervous Senator.

Representative Paul Ryan had been eagerly awaiting this report, saying “If we keep borrowing these emails from China, eventually they are going to email us back. One day our children and grandchildren will suffer under the weight of having to read these Chinese emails. And with my recent cuts to education funding, good luck getting our kids to read anything...the Chinese write up and down, for Gods sake! And if you thought the Nigerian prince emails were bad, wait till you see the Chinese ones”, Ryan exclaimed.

E-mail-conomist experts have concluded that these Chinese emails are even more dangerous than previously thought. A recent study from the Center for Responsible Messaging  indicated that no matter how many of these Chinese emails stuff your inbox, you’ll just be emailing again in an hour or two. Perpetually accurate and prescient investor Peter Schnitt added "we are on the verge of a messaging collapse, and hyper-emailing is right around the corner. This is a great time to buy gold!"

However, notable economist Paul Krugperson had a slightly different view. “Right now, email interest is too low, because the NSA has been pumping trillions of emails into the economy. We actually need to send more emails in the short term, not less. As long as we eventually balance our emails in the long run, we should be fine. Want proof? Just look at these lines on a graph that someone made up 40 years ago” the economist said. At press time, the Postmaster General was not available for comment.

Sarah Palin, Commediene

"I know the liberals hate it when you start mentioning the Bible," [Sarah Palin] told the pair [Fox and Friends Steve Doocy and Elisabeth Hasselbeck], "but the truth is Jesus fought for the death penalty until the day he died. He was a tireless advocate of being tough on crime and making sure the criminals can't be out there raping and murdering people.
"In ancient Jerusalem crime was rampant. The Romans and their pagan morality wouldn't allow the proper punishment wrongdoers deserve. So Jesus lobbied for capital punishment in order to protect the Christians and the Jews from the Palestinians and other Muslims who were killing people left and right.

"Unfortunately Jesus' ideas were never implemented and the Roman Empire fell as result. But here in America we've always followed Jesus' advice on the death penalty, and that's why we have the lowest crime rate in the world."

Peregrin Wood — Louie Gohmert: How Dare The President Call The Law The Law?

Gohmert makes an ass of himself and the people that voted for him yet again.
“Mr. Speaker, today, once again, the President has unilaterally, almost like a monarch, said ObamaCare is the law.” [U.S. Representative Louis Gohmert]

Hm.
The thing is, ObamaCare is the law. It’s called the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and it’s an official part of federal law. It has been for years. Congress, as well as the President, made it so. Louis Gohmert was there when it happened.

Subliminal Message Specifically for William K. Black

Commentary by Roger Erickson

I nearly busted a gut laughing at a line from a Washington Post story yesterday, about a financial squabble in a well publicized local company.

"If they're going to say we stole, we're going to say we're an owner. ... You can't steal from yourself."

Before meeting Bill Black, that might not have struck me as such dark humor. The truth may hurt, but it can also be a riot ... once known. Once seen through, even absurd fraud can't control humor, or keep it in the dark.

Or maybe it was a subliminal message for William K. Black? The rubes secretly want to be jailed for their absurd logic? Too bad they really couldn't afford to pay their staff more, or just lower their service fees. :(
