Tony Cartalucci — Facing Defeat in Syria, ISIS Inexplicably Expands Globally

Tony Cartalucci asks the "follow the money" and "cui bono" questions about the spread of ISIS.
Throughout human history, when a military force and its economic center has been defeated, it contracts, then collapses. For the first time in human history, the self-proclaimed “Islamic State” (ISIS), has managed to reverse this fundamental aspect of reality – but not without help.
Facing defeat in Syria as government forces backed by its Russian and Iranian allies close in on the terrorist organization, stripping it of territory it seized, it has managed to spread far beyond Syria’s borders, establishing itself in Libya, Afghanistan, and even as far as Southeast Asia where it has seized an entire city in the Philippines’ south, and carried out attacks and conducting activities everywhere from Indonesia and Malaysia to allegedly Thailand’s deep south.
It should be remembered, according to Western governments and their media, the territory ISIS holds in Syria is allegedly providing it with the summation of its financial resources and thus the source of its fighting capacity. According to official statements, the US and its European allies allege that ISIS fuels its fighting capacity with “taxes” and extortion as well as black market oil sales – all of which are derived from territory it holds in Syria....
With this territory quickly shrinking and the intensity of fighting against what remains of ISIS in Syria and Iraq expanding, it is seemingly inexplicable as to how ISIS is expanding globally, instead of contracting and collapsing.…
For ISIS – fueled by resources found only within the boundaries of its meager and shrinking territorial holdings in Syria and Iraq – to be simultaneously fighting the national armies of Syria and Iraq, backed by Iran, Russia, Lebanon’s Hezbollah, and allegedly a US-led coalition including dozens of countries, all while expanding its reach worldwide, including full-scale military operations in Southeast Asia, begs belief.
ISIS doing all of this with multi-billion dollar multinational state sponsorship, not only makes much more sense, it is the only explanation....

Dmitry Medvedev — Ankara defends ISIS, Turkish officials have financial interest in oil trade with group

Some Turkish officials have ‘direct financial interest’ in the oil trade with the terrorist group Islamic State, Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev said as he detailed possible Russian retaliation to Turkey’s downing of a Russian warplane in Syria on Tuesday.
“Turkey’s actions are de facto protection of Islamic State,” Medvedev said, calling the group formerly known as ISIS by its new name. “This is no surprise, considering the information we have about direct financial interest of some Turkish officials relating to the supply of oil products refined by plants controlled by ISIS.”
State sponsored terrorism is a serious charge. Go directly to the Hague material.

Christof Lehmann — Turnbull warns of increased Terrorism Threat in the Region: Ignores State Sponsorship

In response to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull instructed law enforcement agencies to test their preparedness for mass casualty attacks. Like his European and American counterparts, Turnbull avoided necessary and painful questions about Western, Turkish and Gulf Arab State sponsorship of terrorism and failure to hit terrorist infrastructure at its roots...
Neither ASIO nor Turnbull, however, have openly addressed that fact that at the very least Turkey, the United States or elements within governmental structures in the United States, as well as Saudi Arabia overtly have supported ISIS.
In December 2012 Saudi Arabia began reactivating smuggling routes from Saudi Arabia via Iraq’s Al-Anbar province and to ISIS / ISIL brigades in Deir Ez-Zor, Syria.
In April 2013 U.S. Senator John McCain illegally crossed the Turkish – Syrian border.
McCain held a meeting with several “rebel” leaders in a safe house in Idlib.
Among them were the general of the now virtually defunct Free Syrian Army, Salim Idris, and Abu Bakhr al-Bagdhadi, a.k.a. al-Badri and most recently as ISIS’ Caliph Ibrahim.
When a photo of the meeting was leaked, McCain would claim that he was not aware that al-Baghdadi was present. [Like McCain was not aware he was standing next to neo-Nazis "nationalists" when photographed in Ukraine after the coup.]

It's called being up to your eyeballs in it.

So now we have Wahhabism, the ideological matrix of all strands of jihadism, dictating to the West who is and who is not a “terrorist”. One can’t make this stuff up.…
And the DIA [US Defense Intelligence Agency] bluntly admitted that “Western countries, the Persian Gulf states and Turkey” were directly involved. As for the “possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality,” the DIA actually explained the obvious; “this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime, which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq and Iran).”
So here, once again, is a brief recap. Shock and awe 2003; the birth of al-Qaeda in Iraq; Camp Bucca; the Daesh metastasis; NATO-“liberated” Libya as a jihadi paradise. Without the US, Franco-British, Saudi, Qatari, Turkish financing and weaponizing of a mini-galaxy of Salafi-jihadi outfits who turned Syria into the new Afghanistan, all used as proxies/patsies to go against Damascus, Hezbollah and mostly Iran, we would not have had jihad in the streets of Paris.
Stupid or evil? This is not because Washington is stupid. But it does provide plausible deniability — for the gullible.

Why the Paris terror attacks didn’t ‘change everything’

Russian Media — Erdogan's son behind downing of Russian Su-24

Turkey intends to thwart Russian military operations in Syria because of ISIS oil operations.
Cheap oil that ISIL terrorists are trafficking to Turkey may be the true reason for the attack on the Russian su-24 bomber on the morning of 24 November, reports LifeNews.
According to the publication, the son of Turkish President, Bilal Erdogan, is associated with terrorists and ISIS' control of oil flow in the country…
In mass media there were photos published of the heir to the Turkish leader posing next to the leaders of the "Islamic state". [Compare with photos of John McCain posing with photos of Ukrainian neo-Nazis "nationalists.]
Turkey deliberately interferes with the conduct of Russian military operations in Syria, because ISIS terrorists were transporting, to Turkey, cheap oil, and the Russian planes are destroying columns of trucks, — says military expert, Director of the Center for strategic conjuncture Ivan Konovalov.

"Instead of immediately getting in contact with us, as far as we know, the Turkish side immediately turned to their partners at NATO in order to discuss this incident, as if it was us who downed a Turkish plane and not vice versa. Do they want to put NATO at service to ISIS?"

Julian Borger — Nato and UN seek calm over Turkish downing of Russian jet, US and NATO back Turkey

The US president and Nato both backed the Turkish version of events. Barack Obama said Turkey had a right to defend itself, while the Nato secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, said “assessments we have got from several allies are consistent with” the Turkish account.
Stoltenberg said Nato stood “in solidarity with Turkey” and its territorial integrity, but called for “calm and de-escalation”, urging Ankara and Moscow to maintain contacts. The UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon called on “all relevant parties to take urgent measures with a view to de-escalate the tensions”.
Ban’s spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, told reporters: “He hopes that a credible and thorough review will clarify the events and help prevent future recurrences.”
Turkmen militiamen in Syria claimed to have shot the pilots as they descended on parachutes from the stricken Su-24 bomber. The Turkmen rebels, who are supported by Ankara, broadcast a video of what appeared to be a dead Russian pilot.…
