BIEN — History of UBI: From Hunter-Gatherers to the 21st Century

Backgrounder. Links to an Investopedia paper.

Seems to reinforce the conclusion that sharing requires a more advanced level of collective consciousness or necessity for social cooperation to survive than exists in most places today.

The question is how much humanity can escape form the law of the jungle, if it is possible at all. Some say not.

Hobbes vs Rouseau led to conservative v. liberal political theory

Hobbes held that authoritarian state was necessary to force compliance necessary for society, whereas Rousseau held that the natural state of collective harmony had become corrupted and the social contract had been abrogated.

Evolutionary thinkers (Hegel, Marx, de Chardin) held that nature is developmental, and progress is iterative (step by step) and incremental (stage by stage) as greater potential is unfolded in history.

.. I thought we left the jungle to become 'civilised'

So, instead of big fish eat little fish - big fish help little fish. In other words, C.I.V.I.L.I.S.A.T.I.O.N (why do we have to spell it out)?

Besides 'survival of the fittest' is seeing Nature through a filter.
