Peter Kuznick - Hollywood, D.C.

Peter Kuznick and Oliver Stone are the authors of, The Untold Story of the United States. Here, Peter Kuznick looks into how Hollywood spreads US propaganda.

Greg Palast seems to describe something about neoliberalism I hadn't thought about before. He say's Hollywood portrays itself as liberal, pro gay rights, pro women's rights, soft social liberalism, stuff like that, but when it comes to the military-industrial complex and US wars it tends to be hawkish. So, could this really be what neoliberalism is, not liberals who are hawkish, but propaganda by the elites to portray themselves as the good guys (even if some are social liberals)?  What we see here is fascism.  KV

Part 2

The film and television industries may be America’s go-to source of escapism and entertainment, but the glossy magazine covers documenting celebrity meltdowns and box-office predictions serve as a convenient distraction from some of the lesser known connections tying together Hollywood and the nation’s national security establishment. In this two-part series, Watching the Hawks’ Sean Stone is joined by a variety of Hollywood insiders in exploring the entertainment industry’s institutional embrace of Washington, DC’s military-industrial complex.

Remember FDR? He prolonged the depression endlessly with Keynesian-style programs, plus he firebombed civilians and destroyed virtually every city in Japan except Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Democrat hero Truman finished them off too.

Libertarians have called the U.S. "the welfare/warfare state" for 45 years. It's time for MMTers to get up to speed.

Combining welfare/ warfare is a lousy propaganda trick.
