Good article on Whataboutism. I had some guy spring this in me in the Guardian DiD and I didn't know what to make off it at first, but he kept accusing me of it. I hardly ever comment on the Guardian CiF but he seemed to find me. I realised in the end it was nonsense as I wasn't arguing like a child who says says that as his brother always does it therefore if it's okay for him to do it. I'm condemning both sides by pointing out the hypocrisy. So I then started writing my CiF articles starting with whatabout this and whatabout that.
Re China, the articles at the first and last links kinda smash head on into each other. 😜
Re China, can no one look at that country and remain moderate? Or just not care?
We sell them stuff, we buy their stuff, end of story.
Totally agreed Bob
The obsession over here to always be better than China, to find something wrong or disturbing about China’s way of life, to paint everything going on bad or good as a result of socialism/communism is one of the worst things about modern America.
China mostly keeps to themselves, they don’t invade other countries for resources the way the US has during its 200yr history. America has mostly been a net negative to the planet in my view. Almost all of South and Central America would be significantly better off if no American had ever been there. Same for much of Africa and Middle East
America always has to be right about everything. Trump is a personification of that pathology
@Nebris
Purposefully.
I don't post things because I necessarily agree with them but because they are indicative of something I think is important to note. The last post is indicative of a syndrome that affects America, and it is not just about China either. Nor is it just about America either. It's a common syndrome of the paranoid mind.
