Sophia A. McClennen — Is Trump Aiming to Become the King of Right-Wing Media, Win or Lose the Election?

You heard it here first. It's a no brainer, and I would be amazed if it doesn't happen regardless of the outcome of the election.

If Trump wins, it will be a media megaphone oriented to his reelection and the destruction of any opposition. If he loses, it will be a cash cow and payback to Rupert Murdoch and the anti-Trump faction at Fox. Most importantly, however, it will provide a venue to whip up right wing resentment against the Democratic machine "stealing the election." In either case it will be designed to be incendiary.

I doubt it because the people who own the entire media are after Trump.

If Glen Beck could do it Trump could certainly do it....

Glenn Beck did it almost from scratch. Trump, Bannon and Ailes are not starting from the same place by any means, and they already have a huge following on the Alt Right and among the disgruntled. They can deliver the eyeballs to advertisers that Beck could only dream of. If they decide to do this, it will be a battle royal between them and Rupert.

So what do you see Tom?

Beck was appealing to right-libertarians .... so now maybe "Trump TV" tries to pioneer programming for this nascent "alt-right" we keep hearing more about?

Talent includes Alex Jones, Ann Coulter, Breitbart people, etc...?

Fox has carved out a very profitable niche that dominates cable. Fox consistently comes in #1. With no competition for that niche, there is an obvious opportunity. And it's not only the $. It's power and influence, which Trump, Ailes and Bannon are no strangers, too. They don't "need" the money as such. At that level is about alphas and dominance. In addition, Trump is now in politics, If he loses the race, I would be surprised if he folds his hands and leaves the table. He is now the dominant figure in a significant wing of the GOP.

However, neither Trump nor Ailes are young men. Bannon is younger, born in 1953. Rupert is in his mid-80's and is still going strong, as is Soros. Alphas never get enough of it.

I doubt that there would be any lack of talent. Trump, Ailes and Bannon know how to recruit it. and Bannon already has Breitbart to jump off from. Alex Jones alone could bring a million peeps right out of the gate.

In my more conspiratorial moments I have wondered whether Trump is colluding with Hillary to throw the election to her. If so, Hillary shoots two birds with one arrow. She wins the White House, and simultaneously disables and destroys the GOP.

I think if Trump saw $1B out of something it'd get his big league attention...

I dont think "Trump Steaks" ever had a $1B potential and he still did those...

Al Gore sold his cable thing which was nothing to Al Jezera for iirc like $200M or $300M....

If they took the #1 spot from Fox imo it would be worth way more than $1B...

They don't need to take much away from Fox to make it a cash cow. Fox has a niche in which no one is competing. There are minor players like Jones and Beck, but that's just a sliver of the niche.
