Paul Rosenberg — In depth analysis of the rightward movement of politics even through data show that the public is more aligned with the left. And how it is dependent on the clout of the donor class.

In depth analysis of the rightward movement of politics even through data show that the public is more aligned with the left. And how it is dependent on the clout of the donor class. Begins discussing Chris Christie as supposed "moderate," and then drill down from there.

An interesting footnote to the Christie reelection victory that got the Washington establishment in a tizzy about his future prospects is that it didn't lead to a single Republican seat gain down ballot in the Dem controlled NJ State Assembly and State Senate, both of which were also all up for election. Not one solitary seat (D's and R's swapped seats in two Assembly districts, that's it).

A large number of Democratic voters voted for Christie because they like him personally (and because the Democratic machines in the state didn't lift a finger for his opponent, having already cut deals with Christie), but they did not embrace the Republican Party writ large.

Ferguson is good and he has indeed been "onto the Democrats" and their rightward shift for a very long time.
