Ten Hours that Shook America — Nina L. Khrushcheva

Nikita Khrushchev's granddaughter puts it in historical perspective. She is a regular contributor to Project Syndicate. I don't usually agree with her analysis, but this is worth reading for an international perspective.

The storming of the US Capitol by Donald Trump's supporters in a last-ditch effort to overturn the result of the 2020 election was as predictable as it was shocking. Four years of Republican complicity in the face of Trump's erosion of US democracy have brought the country to its most fraught moment since the Civil War.

The confederate flag inside the US Capital. What more is there to be said?

Heard suggestions this morning from some US lawmakers of invoking the 25th Amend. then immediately moving to impeach and remove the orange grifter. Wise move to get rid of the orange shit stain once and for all (can't run again for the presidency once impeached and removed!)

What I am reading this AM is people, some of whom I formerly thought were somewhat levelheaded, spreading the conspiracy theory that it was not Trump supporters creating chaos but actually Antifa and BLM. I kid you not. Even a US congressperson. Bonkers.

Tom, Sean Spicer was blaming Antifa yesterday. I guess he didn't get the memo that the remaining rats on the Trump Titanic are jumping ship (resigning).

Right, but yesterday it was only a few and the usual suspects.

Many more today and some surprises of who is crawling out of the woodwork.
