us-russia.org — Russia says American system ‘archaic’ & not up to ‘modern democratic standards’ after rioters raid Washington’s Capitol building

Speaking to reporters, [Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson] Maria Zakharova acknowledged that the events that unfolded on the steps of the country’s legislature the night before were an internal matter for Washington.

However, she said, they demonstrated that "the electoral system in the US is archaic and does not meet modern democratic standards, creating opportunities for numerous violations, and American media has become an instrument of political struggle.”

This criticism won't be taken likely but it is the truth. The US Constitution was drawn up in a particular context that no longer applies. It is therefore archaic and needs updating.

Later on Thursday, the Chairman of Russia’s parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, issued a statement in which he warned of a worsening political crisis in the US. "After the events that have followed the presidential election, viewing [America] as a model of democracy has become pointless,” he said.

According to him, the country’s "political system is not only closed but has been frozen in its development for about 70 years. The two parties have been monopolizing power for more than a century, preventing other political forces from governing the country.”
Secondly, George Washington warned early on about the damaging effect of political parties. History has shown him to be correct. The two-party system is deeply involved in the deficiencies in the system design, and both parties share in the blame for the present state of the union. This is not working.

"We will find out shortly if today's insurrection was also a superspreader event," Goldberg explains. "What I do know, after spending hours sponging up Trumpist paranoia, conspiracism and cultishness, is that this gathering was not merely an attempted coup, but also, a mass-delusion event — not something that can be explained adequately through the prism of politics. Its chaos was rooted in psychological and theological phenomena."

Another far-right Trump supporter told Goldberg, "It's all in the Bible. Everything is predicted. Donald Trump is in the Bible. Get yourself ready."
Loony Tunes. I guess they were not wearing tinfoil hats to let God get through.

If they had used that kind of crowd control on the right-wing Capitol siege it might have saved that woman’s life. There needs to be an investigation.

If the Democrats deliver the hugely popular $2,000 checks, Nathan J. Robinson

Of course they're popular since they are JUST - even apart from the forced business shutdowns.

They are just because we have a government-privileged usury cartel that drives people into debt and fiat is a means to pay off that debt.

Moreover, ALL fiat creation beyond that created by deficit spending for the general welfare should be via an equal Citizen's Dividend anyway.

and follow it up with a $15 minimum wage, paid family leave, free college, student debt forgiveness, Medicare For All, and a Green New Deal—which there are no excuses not to do now that they control the executive and legislative branches—then every person in the country will have gotten something tangible from the administration. ibid

Fine except increased expenses for employers will hasten the automation and outsourcing of jobs away so that's not the ultimate solution. Neither is paying people to waste their time with a focus on providing "jobs" rather than accomplishing work.

Otoh, ethical finance IS part of the ultimate solution but I see Mr. Robinson makes no mention of that and thus ignores a root cause of unjust wealth inequality.
