Vaccine Delays Reveal Unexpected Weak Link In Supply Chains: A Shortage Of Workers — Anna Nagurney

I am an expert on supply chains, and I construct models and algorithms to identify how to enhance their operations as well as to identify their vulnerabilities. Labor problems - and a lack of taking them into account - have contributed in a major way to these delays. My recent paper studied the effect of labor constraints on supply chains and possible disruptions. It quantifies the effects on product flows, firm costs and consumer prices of changes in labor availability and productivity....
Important. To sum it up, the US economic system has sacrificed resilience for efficiency. This is like eliminating the emergency brake in vehicles because emergency breaks are hardly ever used. And then the unexpected happens.

More fundamentally, the US has sacrificed JUSTICE for the sake of efficiency and lack of resilience is just one symptom. Another is grossly unjust wealth inequality.

Not as bad as in the UK where retired medics who are willing to help with the vaccination effort first have to do courses in barmy stuff like diversity appreciation, Islamo radicalisation prevention, etc. See:

Here in Nova Scotia they're aiming for 75% vaccination by next September.
This may be my last summer...
