'said on Friday they will keep their jobs because "you just can't sit down and do nothing."'

Tell that to the Basic Income mob.

I know of an actual case of this. The neighbors of a friend of mine won a 50 million California lottery and chose to take the 20 million lump sum payment after taxes. (That's right 30 million went to taxes immediately.) She had a bad boss and told him where to stick the job, but he loved his trade and his buddies, so he continued to work. The generously shared the windfall with family and their church. The only perceptible difference was a bigger boat.

People want to work, but they don't want to work at a crappy job or for an idiot boss.

"People want to work." Very true. A few years out of college, I had saved up some money and quit my job so I could spend my days improving my engineering skills. So I spent a year studying, reading, building stuff. Put myself on an exercise plan, lost 25 pounds.

I'd always say - I haven't had time to get any work done, I've been having to go to that damn job everyday.
