Mark Thoma — Here’s Why Bernie Sanders’ 5% Growth Plan Isn’t Crazy After All


Because uncertainty. Critics are assuming that they know the actual employment numbers and output potential. They don't. The numbers are estimates. Both could be much larger than assumed, and we won't know if we don't try. 

Assumptions don't prove conclusions except in a model. The argument is really about assumptions.
