Trump clearly doesn't understand the sectoral balances either... He talks about the national "debt" all the time. Doesn't have a clue that everybody can't be simultaneously in surplus...
I didnt say he did... just that what he proposes for balanced trade policy is possible and would reduce the external balance and hence (by accounting identity) reduce the fiscal deficit cet par....
As opposed to Bernie who thinks that the fiscal deficit can be eliminated by tax increases while doing nothing about trade... ie impossible...
So Trump has the correct policy within the MMT paradigm NOT Bernie...
