This post gives a glimpse into how complex is in Post WWII Europe, and how the situation is determined historically by ideology and nationalism, along with hysteresis and path dependence.
Americans tend to view the participants there as people more or less just like them. This post shows how delusional that is, unless Americans take their own dark side into account to, which most are not wont to do because "American exceptionalism."
Caution. Strong stuff for those with weak stomachs and refined sensibility.

Wait till summer when the flags come out ... I'll do a post where I'll use my phone to take pictures of all the 'Stars and Bars" flying in my area as I drive around.... (40 miles south of Mason-Dixon Line....)
Good (informative) article, thanks for posting.
.
BTW Wikipedia lists this event as Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia.
Says about 100,000 killed, mostly women and children.
The killings were directly linked with the policies of the Bandera faction (our allies these days) to purge all non-Ukrainians from the future Ukrainian state.
100,000 deaths would be small change by WWII standards, and of course Harry Truman was buddy buddy with the Bandera bunch as part of operation "Nightengale."

This is still their policy. Which is why the conflict in Ukraine is going to go on, and why the US crazy to get involved in it on the side of these people. The Russians and the Germans know full well what's up, but it seems the Americans are either clueless or don't care.
Without a capable military, or without the protection of an outside force, they can only do harm to their own people.
I think the US sees them as pawns, and they will be sacrificed as such.
