'I know your favourite drink': Chinese smart city to put AI in charge

Dec 3 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - From robots delivering coffee to office chairs rearranging themselves after a meeting, a smart city project in China aims to put artificial intelligence in charge, its creators told a conference this week - raising some eyebrows.

Danish architecture firm BIG and Chinese tech company Terminus discussed plans to build an AI-run campus-style development in the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing during an online panel at Web Summit, a global tech conference.

The project named Cloud Valley, plans to use sensors and wifi-connected devices to gather data on everything from weather and pollution to people's eating habits to automatically meet residents' needs, said Terminus founder Victor Ai.

Good thing I don't drink :)

I made the mistake last week of googling Oakley sunglasses and then linking to the site. I should have not used google -- should have used another search engine like duckduckgo. Now every time I go online I am bombarded with Oakley advertisements.

Btw, I see here that the Oakley sunglasses are still 50% off on some selected pairs :)

Efficiency.

Injustice since the "efficiency" was likely financed with the displaced workers' own legally stolen purchasing power/investment opportunity via government privileges for private credit creation.

And, of course, stealing from potential customers is ultimately self-defeating.

They have a problem with too many old people and not enough young people because of the one child policy, but this could free up a lot of hands and sort out the problem.
