Yes, it was a coup. Here’s why. — Fiona Hill

 Detailed.

Fiona Hill, a former NSC member during the Trump Administration, provides ample evidence that Donald Trump prepared a self-coup to stay in power.

It seems apparent to me that those who was enabled in this by those who did not call him out on the attempt but should have because it was obvious.

This opinion piece won't fly in court.
Its only purpose is to promote a false narrative.
Similarly, an impeachment is an occasion to hold a political show trial.

Charge Donald Trump with a relevant crime, in a court of law.

To paraphrase the message sent to Trump's election lawyers: put up or shut up.

After 4 years of Russiagate and Ukrainegate, has nothing been learned?

I doubt it. Erdogan and Maduro have done worse shenanigans (if you believe OAS pronouncements) but they are unlikely to be chased once they're out of power.

This is per usual depending on a country's politics. Erdogan operates as a dictator and can do so because that is the state of Turkish politics. Even France has significantly more political violence than the US. They regard it as the norm.

After 4 years of Trump Derangement Syndrome, the Donald may become an Emmanuel Goldstein figure, blamed for whatever ills befall the new administration. And in any case, Big Brother Joe will be watching.

You don't actually have to have committed an act explicitly listed in the criminal code to be impeached. Being impeached and convicted doesn't even give you a criminal record. But luckily, trump did commit several crimes. There's at least 4 or 5 possible criminal violations, both state and federal, involved in just the Georgia phone call alone. Who how many crimes were committed on Wednesday by trump.
The republican are probably too vile and craven to convict him at an impeachment trial but prosecutioms in multiple jurisdictions seem all but a foregone conclusion at this point.

Do you honestly think that threatening the GA secretary of state and pressuring him to "recaluclate" and "find him 11780" votes isn't an impeachable offense?

Has there ever been a criminal president to this extent before? We have multiple violations of the hatch act, emoouments clause, obstruction of justice, campaign finance violations, he committed a felony on live TV whe he encourage his supporters to vote twice in NC, 4 or 5 crimes at least on the GA call, possible crimes when he met with the Michigan lawmakers, tax fraud inciting a riot.

Joe, an impeachment is political in nature, and is a privilege that ordinary citizens do not have. Crimes should be prosecuted in a court of law.
