Explaining China’s & India’s Reported Differences Over Expanding BRICS — Andrew Korybko

Follow on to Korybko's previous article about BRICS+ and alternative currency/payments system. Again, cutting through the hype of both an impasse owing to Chinese and Indian opposition and also the over-optimism of the cheerleaders for an alternative currency. Korybko argues that the countries involved are proceeding carefully in finding common ground in spite of competing national interests — that is, acting maturely.

“It is a widespread assumption in the West that as countries modernize they also westernize. This is an illusion.”

Yes. The West lives in a bubble of arrogance and self-righteousness. The inside of this bubble has a mirrored surface. When the West looks at China, the West does not see China. The West sees a mirror image of itself, which the West insists is the only real thing in the universe.

Therefore, since the West wants to enslave the planet, the West assumes that China wants to do likewise. The West cannot grasp that China is oriented toward a genuine win-win between nations. The West bombs. China builds. The West extracts. China adds.

"I believe the fundamental misunderstanding by the West can be attributed to the universalist, good vs evil world view of the West – and the projection of that attitude onto a civilization that doesn’t share the same history or ideology."

Yes. The West has always been essentially Manichean. And since only the West is good, everything else is evil and inferior, and must be enslaved or exterminated. It is “God’s will.”

Such unipolarity is now in its twilight.
