Thomas Piketty on the rise of Bernie Sanders: the US enters a new political era

The Vermont senator’s success so far demonstrates the end of the politico-ideological cycle opened by the victory of Ronald Reagan at the 1980 elections.
One might say the same for Jeremy Corbyn and Margaret Thatcher.

Right everything is about "inequality" .... this is like Wray with "money!" everything is about "money!"...

Right kids graduate with $100k or more in "student loan" and there are no jobs except a $10/hr minimum wage right that is going to work...

White-hate speech and misandry that usually peppers the Democratic rhetoric and is thrown as red-meat to the base is curiously missing in this election cycle where a pro-gun white man is leading the young Democrats. Maybe it will get some poor rural whites to move back to the Dems and vote for their economic interests since they aren't being alienated because of their skin color.

Malmo-

have you ever even listened to the Con prez candidates? The quoted description is perfect. Just look at the croos tabs of the people supporting Trump in SC for example, huge majorities of racists.

What fascinates me the most about part of USA is the death and violence cult and nihilism dominating certain circles. The parallelism with ISIS is strong, I bet even many of this guys think we are near the end of the world and the second coming...

Auburn, I think we call that an association fallacy.

One might argue that radical communists support Bernie. Or that racists support Trump. Or that religious zealots support Cruz.
None are good reasons not to support the candidate nor is there any reason to suppose that the candidate supports those groups.

If instead Trump is a bigoted person that you think would create policies of discrimination that would lead to racist institutions in government and society, well, that would make a compelling argument. I'm not sure he is a bigot even though some of his statements surely are questionable.

What's wrong with being a nationalist? I'm a nationalist...

Were here all the time discussing the "money!" of the USA or EZ...

Bill actually wants the EZ to go back to individual national currencies to provide better capabilities for nations to issue currency as needed for public purpose.... how is this not 'nationalist'?

Trump is a nationalist.... not a racist... he wants to 'make America great'... he is focused on his own country as he should be...

You guys are always complaining about your fantasy "empire!" conspiracies well the opposite of 'empire' is nationalism....
