House Majority Leader Eric Cantor just lost a historic primary race — to an economist. Prof. David Brat chairs the Department of Business and Economics at Randolph-Macon College, a liberal arts school in Ashland, Virginia. Vox read over some of his academic research, and it helps give you a sense of what the politician at the center of tonight's political earthquake believes.VOX
The guy who beat Eric Cantor penned a scathing, seemingly unpublished book about the economics profession

Interesting, He has a background in Philosophy and Theology similar to one of the big names in the MMT that posts alot on MNE. A similar background and has come to similar conclusions about normative aspects of economics. hmm.

Here's a description of his course on THE ENDS OF ECONOMIC JUSTICE
"David Brat is an economics professor and a respected voice in Virginia on economic issues. Running as a constitutional conservative, Brat is in favor of defunding Obamacare and replacing it with a free market alternative, a balanced budget amendment to the constitution, Congressional term limits, defending the Second Amendment, an audit of the Federal Reserve, energy independence, and less government interference in the education system.
Brat has pledged to term limit himself to 12 years."

Doc Thompson Interviews Dave Brat
BRAT: I teach 3rd world economic development. I went to seminary, obviously I care about every person on this planet. I think we’re all children of God. Number One. Right? That’s why I went to seminary and got a PhD in economics in economic growth. The way to help people is by encouraging free markets. If you look at China – every policy they had left their people in rice fields the past millennium. The only thing that is enriching China, and India right now…..when I started teaching they were earning $500 per capita they’re up to $7-8,000 per person now in China, in 20 years.
DOC: And what did it?
BRAT: Free markets. In our country, it has less free markets than China. We’re going downhill, Detroit’s going bankrupt and we’re going to be Greece if we don’t get our fiscal house in order.
Another moron.
:( Reading his class syllabus -- He likes to dole out punishment and set himself up in a position of extreme power and arbitrary judgement over his students. It is an extreme way of handling the power he is given.
Isn't that the (unstated) goal of anarcho-capitalism?
