Xinhua — China criticizes ‘terrible’ US human rights record

China hit back at the US' human rights record in a report published on Friday in response to "irresponsible" remarks about China.
The report, "The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2014," was released by the Information Office of the State Council, China's Cabinet, in response to the "2014 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices" issued by the US State Department on Thursday local time.
In its report, Washington called countries such as Iran, Cuba, Myanmar and Vietnam "serial human rights abusers."
The reprot said that the US made comments on the human rights situation in many countries while showing no remorse for or intention to improve its own terrible human rights record.
Ji Hong, a research fellow at the Institute of American Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, who took part in drafting the report, said US racial problems even deteriorated during the Obama presidency....
In August 2014, the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, in its concluding observation on the periodic report of the US on the latter's implementation of relevant conventions, criticized the US for violating the rights of ethnic minorities, indigenous people, immigrants and other minority groups.
Also, "money is a deciding factor in US politics, and Americans' political rights were not properly protected," it says.

I say "don't throw stones in a glass house" and that applies to both China and US. At least the US has "democracy."
