RT — 9 quick facts about Russian Su-24 jet downed by Turkish Air Force

Not one of the nine fact, but most interesting:
Former Vice Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney, told Fox News: "This airplane was not making any maneuvers to attack the territory...it was probably pressing the limits, that's fair. But you don't shoot 'em down just because of that."
“I don’t really trust President Erdogan in what he is doing,” he added. “I think it was an overly aggressive maneuver and at NORAD [North American Aerospace Defense] command region we would not use this kind of rules of engagement. That had to be preplanned.”
Is the US distancing itself from perception that it was in on the pre-planning?

These media generals and former officials are unofficial spokespeople for the sitting US regime. (I am going to call the sitting US government a "regime" instead of an "administration" in accordance with its own media policy with respect to others.)

So what if Erdogan is a loose cannon, the Saudis are loose cannons... the US can work with loose cannons.

These guys are way beyond loose cannons. They make Assad look like a saint.

I'm sure the Pope will beatify him.

Preparation for NATO entering Syria with ground forces.

BTW are there any pictures of the torture that Assad's intelligence service did for the US on contract to the CIA?

What a bunch of hypocrites.

There are always pictures, Tom.

So what are you implying, that ISIS are the only ones in this conflict who are not being hypocrites?

I've forgotten how many times I have saiid its our thugs against their thugs. They are all thugs. It's how the selection process works. Only thugs get selected because only the ruthless can claw their way to the top.

A distinction could be made between the thugs who rule and the sadists who carry out the dirty work. For example, the roles played by Ralph and Roger in Lord of the Flies.

Correction: Jack and Roger

Yes, it is a highly nuanced game and everyone plays a part in it, however minor, other than those brave enough to stand up to it on actual principle and not to play king of the mountain using principle as an excuse. There have been very few of those historically.

Economic has name for the game — rational utility maximization. This is rightly condemned on moral grounds as moral turpitude the consequences of which are social dysfunction and individual degeneration.

This, by the way, is another paradox of liberalism.

Being a "good" liberal is not a simple matter because human life is nuanced, requiring a balance of head and heart that few are born with and few cultivate, especially in societies in which self-cultivation in the traditional sense is penalized culturally.
