Sputnik — Top US Electronics Retailer Best Buy Stops Selling Kaspersky Lab Software

Best Buy reportedly will stop selling Kaspersky Lab cybersecurity software due to fears that the company has links to the Russian government.
The cyber world is headed toward national firewalls, silos, and cocooning. The open Internet is closing as paranoia takes over.

Disclosure: I use Kaspersky Secure Connection (free version).

What do you use for a search engine?

I use Linux OS, duckduckgo search, and recently switched to Vivaldi browser.

Browsers seem to be the weak link these days -- they keep getting more resource-hungry and buggy, especially when using social media (FB and twitter are resource hogs). I'm so old, I can remember when Firefox was fast.

Kaspersky is excellent. In a category of its own. It’s so on top of hacks and viruses that it leaves the competition in the dust. Apparently, Putin is now restricting critical software to Russian-made in future. Smart move. Those guys are brilliant.

But the average American doesn't know that. You hear arguments that the Russians are using Soviet-level equipment and software; statements pulled out their asses. Like actress Jennifer Lawrence’s recent statement that Irma is because Mother Nature is issuing payback for electing Trump. (She went as far as the end of Junior High. Her mother later home-schooled her so she could get her GED. That’s it. Sum total of her education.)

Best Buy’s reaction is reactionary. But what isn’t in this now sick country?

There is also a province in China that is known for producing mathematical geniuses. This math genius is recognized within China and the Chinese don't understand why that’s the case but they recognize it. It translates into coding smarts.

I was in China during two Windows OS introductions when announced on Sky-TV. Two hours later, the Chinese were selling completely security-broken fully functioning WIN OS copies on the street. For $5 to $10. And they worked.

)If you need an antivirus you are doing it wrong anyway.

That's depends on a number of things, Ignacio.
