Yes, there is a US Deep State but not how most people think. We can assume something similar with the UK.
Former US intel officer Philip Giraldi argues that it is not the unelected and unaccountable administrative state and intel services that makes up the US Deep State but rather the American Establishment (economic, financial, and political elites). The bureaucracy and the intel services are merely means they use to implement policy, and these subordinate people simply follow orders rather than initiating policy or operations on their own, as some suppose incorrectly.
While Giraldi doesn't make the connection explicitly, this more or less equate to "the masters of the universe" (in their own minds) conflating spreading freedom and democracy with extending the reach of capital globally and subordinating national governments to the will of the "the masters of the universe."
I do not say this cynically. Historian Carroll Quigley, who was admitted to the club and wrote on it freely, states this is the case. They really do believe that only they are able to organize the world successfully, and the evidence is their success (or their ancestors').
This is the case with most "alphas," across time. It is not simply about dominance but having the right to dominate owing to natural ability rather than physical strength as in the animal kingdom.
Oh, and there are competing elites.

Yes, the sources of many links here suffer a similar fate. The authors have no other venue and in fact, some have been booted from the mainstream, even though they have significant things to say, albeit "controversial." It's all part of increasing narrative control through media self-censorship. After all, a sitting US president got booted from Twitter.
