Xi Jinping: “Marxism is winning the global ideological war”

New book on Xi’s thought shows that he still sees the world as the arena of a struggle between Communism and Anti-Communism

China has a 20% tax rate and no inheritance tax.  How do they do it, it must be the public banks, a kind of MMT?

Xi talks about Marxism, but other than the state run industries, China’s socialism seems to be trickle down, and that didn't work here either. Xi did talk about free health care and an improved welfare state in the recent past, so I'm a bit optimistic.

My heart might be in some type of gentle communism, but I know human nature won't allow it, so I remain social democratic, especially the Nordic style. In the end it is all about compromise.

If China isn't really anti-capitalist, then surely the West can work with the country for the greater good. It looks like we need a peaceful revolution here to reclaim power from the oligarchs, as many prefer war, rather than peace.

Surely this dreadful neoliberal system we have in the West will come up an end soon.

I hope it works out for them in China, and that they develop a fairer system.

What is interesting in the book for international readers is the strong emphasis on a vision of the world that remains firmly rooted in classical Marxism. While China often accuses the United States of promoting “a new Cold War,” in fact the book is filled with Cold War language.

The world, the book says, is an arena for the “competition of two ideologies and two social systems,” Marxist Communism and bourgeois democratic ideology and capitalism. The “laws of human social development revealed by Marxism”

Happily, Xi Jinping assures us, China reversed this narrative, and this “miracle” is happening right now, with the whole world looking in astonishment. COVID-19 offered the final evidence that Marxism is winning.

"Capitalism" v. "Marxism," "Communism" v. "liberalism", etc. are simplistic and way too abstract to be useful. They mischaracterized the complexity of different types of systems structurally, functionally and historically. Dichotomies like this create an "us v. them" approach that leads to conflict.

We now return to our regular pissing contest.

American history

Where does it go from here ?

Further down the rabbit hole definitely

More conflict definitely

Bat shit crazy definitely

When I read that American history above the exact same thing is playing out right now in the UK in front of everybody's faces with Nigel Farage.

The Klan are going to come full circle and realise they were socialists all along. After decades of denying it.

History is always blowing in the wind and highlighting the dangers. Humans are just too dumb enough to hear the wind chimes.

After reading that brief history of the republican party to vote for them or the democrats for that matter. Your brain would have to operate like a bag of ferrets. Have as much shine as a bag of spanners.

The rest of the world wait and wait and wait and wait and wait on the American people to rise up and fight to take their country back from their own leisure class.

We wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and every now and then get the pop corn out and talk amoung ourselves and say "fuck are they really that crazy " and then wait and wait and wait and wait.

Suddenly in the month of January we thought this is it . They are finally going to do it. The world was cheering as some people started to storm the capital. A false dawn filling us with false hope.

So we wait and wait and wait that someday, somebody like Tom Hickey becomes president before you are nuked off the face of the planet.

I'm 52 I've been waiting a long time. Jeez , get it over with already the rest of the world are waiting. Save yourselves before It's too late.

The UK and the EU would quickly reign their necks in and their yellow back bones after Tom closed down the 800 US military bases around the world.

Peace at last - peace at last.

Trump is the only populist candidate…

” Trump is the only populist candidate…”

True. And far too many on the left don’t understand the power of populism. They think populism in itself is evil. No wonder they get nowhere.

Footsoldier said...

I would consider myself a left wing populist.

I liked Trump and I am left wing. I fully understand the power of populism see Europe and Brexit for details.

But his mistake was be didn't drain the swamp at all he continued with the Republican tradition that is written throughout that history above. Looking at that Republican history you can't deny it.

I believe Trump knew if he didn't there would be a 50/50 chance he would be assassinated. If Trump had been a left wing populist his family would have buried him a long time ago. Some Russian or Chinese terrorist would have been blamed for his death. Please see American history for details.

The Heritage Foundation clearly controlled him. You just have to read their website and their economic and foreign policies. Trumps policies were a copy and paste job from the Heritage foundation website. Why Pence was there who's heart bleeds with the Heritage foundation blood.

It's amazing the liberals managed to portray Trump as the war monger when he was clearly the opposite. That's one thing about the Republicans they know war is bad for business. Let's face it a bunch of gangsters now run the world. It has never been a democracy in any sense of the word for a very long time.

To me populism is when the right and left wing voters join forces to take the bastards on. That's what it should be.

However, populism in the American and European sense just drives right wing and left wing voters into the arms of the far right. Those that populists are supposed to be fighting against the leisure class and capital are overjoyed with that outcome.

What happens is instead of taking the bastards on the countries just move further into Franco and Mussolini territory. The place the leisure class and capital have always wanted to be.

The world is sadly lacking a dozen or so left wing populist leaders because they are Corbynised or Sanderised by the media the leisure class and capital control as soon as they raise their heads above the parapet.

If you have been paying attention Boris has just been Corbynised and Sanderdised by the media exactly like Trump was.

In a " one " party nation state which you need to be able to carry out neoliberalism and globalism and NATO expansion economic ( TINA) foreign policy. You will simply be cancelled by the leisure class and capital if you are not on board with their agenda.

Why I could come back here in 10 years time and MMT will be no further forward. MMT'rs hold this insane belief that this is an intellectual war that can be won in a classroom. When it is clearly a class war about real power and always has been.

I'll bet any MMT'r and I am one myself. That nothing will change unless America changes and the leisure class and capital are removed from power. Which will never be achieved under the current " one " party system. With America so divided.

The left and right wing voters will never unite to be able to fight back they simply hate and detest each other in equal measure. They are divided and will be ruled. The republican voters have been " nudged" by right wing social media to hate China and the Democrats have been " nudged" by left wing social media to hate Russia. A simply beautiful combination for the leisure class and capital.

You'll see in the Year 2032 if we haven't been nuked off the planet. MMT will be no further forward. The current economics paradigm of NATO expansion demands it.Demands that MMT type policies stays in the shadows. The ONE party nation state has already burned the economic textbooks and the constitution and they have got a lot more burning to do yet.

If you don't believe me or think I'm starting to lose the plot.

Let's agree to meet here in January 2032 and compare notes and let's see how far MMT has moved forward.

My view is right now we have hit " peak" MMT.

They'll " nudge" the inflation narrative to keep us in the shadows. Humans are very easily "nudged."

https://www.spiked-online.com/2022/01/14/nudge-has-no-place-in-our-democracy/

Keep the sheep divided and keep " nudging" them.

Yep. And removing them from power is highly unlikely. They are masters at co-oping resistance.

Yes, but Tom will still be posting links at the ripe old age of 94.

That is something to look forward to :)

That would be 92 rather than 94.
