Robert DeNiro is pissed at NYC Mayor, Bill DeBlasio, because DeBlasio is not handing him money for his Tribecca Film Festival!

Way to go, Mayor DeBlasio! That's all I can say.

Robert DeNiro is worth hundreds of millions, but he wants everyday hard-working New Yorkers to pay for his film festival. He can well afford to pay for it himself.

He's complaining because Mayor DeBlasio is not giving him the "support" he wants. That support boils down to money.

DeNiro tries to rationalize the city giving him money with some made up on the fly economics:

“There’s a lot of economic development that comes with the festival, and jobs,” the film producer added. “Festivals like Toronto and Sundance get a lot of money from both their states and the city, and we do not have that kind of support here. Plus, we’re in New York City, so there are always things you’re competing with.”

Yeah, bullshit. The only one who likely makes money out of this are DeNiro and his partner, Jane Rosenthal, who had this to say:

“I have no opinion, too [about DeBlasio],” added Rosenthal. “And that should tell you what my opinion is.”

Oooh...snide.

DeNiro...you lookin' at me?

Rick Perlstein — Chicago School: Bill de Blasio’s Shock Doctrine Consultants

De Blasio another snake in the grass?
Bill de Blasio was swept to the New York mayoralty on the promise of getting Gracie Mansion out from under the thumb of corporate elites. So how worried should you be that he listened to Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel and is now getting advice on his transition from Emanuel’s corporate consultants.
The story first broke three weeks ago in the web publication Capital New York. “De Blasio’s Shadow Transition” cited an unnamed source (I know who the source is, and can vouch for his trustworthiness) who said that following a November meeting between de Blasio and Emanuel, the nonprofit group Civic Consulting USA “has ‘embedded’ into the process a team drawn up from the ‘creme de la creme of big New York consultants.’ This group has shaped the process by organizing the original transition team into a number of topic-specific committees and then bringing in an even greater number of other people onto those committees to participate in the search for future administration members.” Civic Consulting USA is an offshoot of a Chicago group, the Civic Consulting Alliance, which provides opportunities for corporate executives to do pro bono work on municipal affairs. And in Chicago, where CCA was also instrumental in staffing Emanuel’s transition, their record has been creepy....

Here we go exactly as I predicted: NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio's sellout has begun.

Just as I predicted, Bill De Blasio, NYC's newly elected mayor, the same guy who is branded a Socialist, Coummunist and "Super Progressive" by Conservatives, is already selling out.

First he installs Rudy Giuliani's top cop, Bill Bratton, as police commissioner. So, don't expect any change in NYPD's heavy handed and highly racist approach to policing.

And guess who he just appointed as the new Deputy Mayor? Yep...a Goldman Sachs executive.

If anyone other than the 1% thinks that the system works for them this should be the final, last, proof they need that it absolutely does not. It's a sham. These guys will say anything, do anything, to get elected. Then, once they're in, that's it, it's the status quo or worse.

Alexander Reed Kelly — ‘We Are Living in the World Occupy Made’

Dan Cantor, executive director of the Working Families Party, the national, independent, inequality-focused political coalition sponsored by labor unions that helped elect Bill de Blasio to the position of mayor of New York City, tells“Democracy Now!” on Friday about the role Occupy Wall Street played in the latest election.
“We are living in the world Occupy made,” Cantor says. “We are the beneficiaries of what they did in terms of making this [about] inequality, which is from our point of view the core issue of our time.”
