Olson Gunnar — Facebook, Twitter, Western Media Attempt to Reassert Monopoly Over “Truth”

Exposing bullshit gone exponential — "First Draft News" as a US-UK covert operation.
Founding Partners

"All the propaganda you'll ever need in one place." Only the CIA could have come with this. Or, on second thought, Google. Oh, right. Same thing.

This seems to be one of the answers of the US and UK deep state (joined at the hip) to all that "nasty Russian propaganda" from the likes of RT and Sputnik that is gaining traction as an antidote to the propaganda generated in the US and UK and spewed widely in the media and on the net.

If it's all too much and you need a break, the NSA provides monthly puzzles to work on. Keep your mind in tip top shape.

BTW, everybody: here some recent tech news. OT to the max. From a nerd site.
==========================================
"Creator of Firefox web browser Brendan Eich was kicked out of his own organization for not supporting same sex marriage and not ever backing down. They then turned Firefox into a dogpile. He then wrote a new web browser and has released it as the "Brave" browser. Rumor on the street is that it is great, check it out, download here: https://brave.com/downloads.html

"update: Ha ha ha, he's pissed with Google intentionally sabotaging Firefox and has programmed the new browser to blow Google away!

"YEP. To make Chrome look better (when really it was not) Google sabotaged Firefox by causing Firefox to re-load ads multiple times, which slowed it down badly. Google did this by checking which browser was accessing a web site, and if it saw Firefox, Google would intentionally trip it up with the analytics scripts and ad scripts that loaded multiple times under instruction from Google. There was nothing Firefox could do to fix it because it was external sabotage. So what did Brendan do to get even? He ripped Google's own Chrome to pieces, took out the crapware parts of it, and had it intentionally screw over the Google tampering.

"Ha ha ha, blockbuster: The Brave browser will take Google ads (if you tell it to) and replace them with ads that are served by the Brave browser's own ad service. Brave then gives a kickback to the web sites who had their ads switched away from Google. Talk about revenge! That is worth more than a laugh!

"Way to go. Way to get even!"

And . . . .

vk.com is a new mobile app developed by the Russians as a Facebook replacement on servers within Russia that won't hand over info to US govt and the claim that their servers are unhackable (stated on nerd sites). Strict privacy rules. Available in languages that cover all of Asia, the gazillion languages in Russia and former satellites, and the Near East.

Great info, MRW. Thanks.

Just downloaded and fired up Brave. It looks good.

I gave up on Chrome some time ago and agree that FF has turned into a dog pile.

Tom, excuse me for being obtuse, but are you saying this is a deep state/CIA/Google/Whatever site or that it was developed to counteract it. I think the former but your notes make it unclear. Just want to doublecheck.
=====================

yeah, Tom, and it has great privacy features.

Tom, I think what caused the confusion was your opening statement: Exposing bullshit gone exponential — "First Draft News."

Did you mean: I am exposing the bullshit....or First Draft News is exposing....?

Tom Hickey said...

"First Draft" has CIA-MI6 covert ops written all over it.

Bellingcat a founder? That's a tell.

Google is also basically a CIA front, developed with Q-Tel (CIA) "investment" money. They are getting the return on investment that they planned for.

Nafeez Ahmed, How the CIA made Google — Inside the secret network behind mass surveillance, endless war, and Skynet —

This is leading to the development of alternatives like Brave and vk.com and eventually it will take down US and UK IT commercially.

@MRW

Any thoughts on NoScript (Firefox addon) as a workaround analytics and ad scripts?

I thought that's what you meant. You realize of course that this site is now part of courseware resources at the Columbia School of Journalism and other schools, and has been touted to all alumni that it should be their go-to site to learn how to do data-based reporting.

firstdraftnews.com title: Social networks unite with global newsrooms to take action against misinformation online. Always get the kids. Always get the kids.

They talk about getting “credible sources.” and using geodata, blah-blah-blah to get credible evidence. NOWHERE ON THAT SITE IS THERE RULE #1: pick up the goddam phone and talk to someone. Or reinstall foreign desks that aren’t embedded.

This is leading to the development of alternatives like Brave and vk.com and eventually it will take down US and UK IT commercially.

You are and I are probably part of the handful that really understand it. No one seems to have a fucking clue how talented the Russians (incl Ukrainians), Chinese, and East Indians are with computers and software. Our hardware engineers are superior, but these countries educate their kids in maths at the highschool level at a rate our highschoolers only get in 3rd or 4th year university. We arrogantly think we are in the vanguard. And we’re not. Silicon Valley, et al, of course have brilliant coders (ex-students), but we educate their young and then let them go home to improve upon it, even if we’ve paid for their scholarships. We don’t make it a condition of entrance to a top US tech university that they stay in this country for 10 years before they are allowed to return.

No, jrbarch, I don't. Sorry.

Surprised it is legal for a company to fire an employee for:

voting for or against a candidate/issue
speaking for or against a candidate/issue
(not) contributing to a candidate/issue

I suppose the problem arises because companies are full fledged citizens with their own free speech rights. Confusing.

Laughable. These sites feed each other. Who feeds them? Like it is difficult to plant stuff on social networks. Then these venues pick and feed it to the MSM. It's a covert ops playground.

BTW, I happen to know something about intelligence and the intelligence agencies have literally thousands of people gathering and processing data, including from social networks, and then analysts analyzing it and drawing conclusions with different levels of likelihood. They also have to filter out the planted stuff and other bogus data.

The notion that an unemployed blogger (Elliot Higgins) is doing this on his own in a way that mimics the resources of intelligence operations is beyond ludicrous.

It shows how lazy and gullible journalists are that swallow this stuff. But that is all they are expected to do and doing more means taking a risk.

Here is another one:

Meet the seven-year-old girl tweeting from Aleppo By David Molloy, BBC News

This girl just happens to know English and posts on Twitter, and it's picked up by the Western media.

What a chain of coincidence.

Anyone that falls for that one is a moron.

Tom re: the seven-year-old.

And she has a computer (a laptop?), with broadband access in Aleppo, with her unconcerned parents blithely keeping her there while bunker busters and whatever fall around her.

Our society is Brave New World style already, social networks are a psychological Soma, better than whatever substance to control mass thinking and behaviour, as they work subtlety (people does not realise its consuming it).
