People protesting because a corrupt, greedy, lying, elitist, power-hungry, warmongering woman was not elected. Something's wrong.

Since the election people have gone nuts. We see protests everywhere. Why are people protesting? Because a corrupt, greedy, lying, elitist, power-hungry, warmongering woman was not elected? Something is terribly wrong here.

Hillary Clinton is a dangerous, self-serving woman. These people need to get a clue.

Only if they are unaware of this?

“ . . . So, those Hillary Clinton emails, they connect together with the cables that we have published of Hillary Clinton, creating a rich picture of how Hillary Clinton performs in office, but, more broadly, how the U.S. Department of State operates. So, for example, the disastrous, absolutely disastrous intervention in Libya, the destruction of the Gaddafi government, which led to the occupation of ISIS of large segments of that country, weapons flows going over to Syria, being pushed by Hillary Clinton, into jihadists within Syria, including ISIS, that’s there in those emails. There’s more than 1,700 emails in Hillary Clinton’s collection, that we have released, just about Libya alone. “

“Documents obtained by several journalistic investigations reveal that Lafarge has paid taxes to the terror group to operate its cement plant in Syria, and even bought Isis oil for years…
Lafarge also has close ties to Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Apart from being a regular donor to the Clinton Foundation, Clinton herself was a director of Lafarge in the early 1990s, and did legal work for the firm in the 1980s. During her connection to Lafarge, the firm was implicated in facilitating a CIA-backed covert arms export network to Saddam Hussein.”

"I believe we have weather" erm what? That is saying nothing, it isn't an answer to anything.

The weather isn't the climate...that's a typical rubbish argument from deniers and from that you get silly statements like "it's snowing today so the globe isn't warming" and a PRATT.
We are talking about anthropogenic climate change where humans have caused it. That's the denial they aren't claiming anymore that it isn't changing they are claiming *we* aren't causing it.

Malmo's Ghost said...

Andy, So what if there's anthropogenic climate change? Is there irrefutable proof that it's either good or bad? Folks a lot smarter than you say bollocks to it all: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/magazine/29Dyson-t.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

And Ben Carson would make a fine Sec of Education being that he's tens times brighter than you, no?

Matt Franko said...

Well maybe he thinks that volatility is increasing...

iow its like the market indexes sometime volatility is low and sometimes it is higher...

Last couple days we've had high volatility e.g....

So he doesnt want to be associated with the "climate change!" schtick but he somewhat understands that we may be entering into an era of increased weather volatility and we should plan accordingly... perhaps take preventative measures...

Like a few years ago it was "global warming!" and now it is "climate change!" .... then the other day, Obama's woman referred to and I quote "climate deniers!"... like people are out there going all around denying there is a climate or something... so this is not very confidence inspiring...

It looks to me that when they went from "global warming!" over to "climate change!" that what they really came across may have been a realization of increase in volatility but they dont know how to properly describe it in scientific terms... I think Trump might agree with this type of assessment...

Then there are the left political types who would have us all slit our wrists and blow our brains out to "save the planet!" (environmental equivalent to Peterson people on "deficits!"...) who are out there on the left that nobody on the right would want to associate with in any way shape or form...

Trump might have to frame it in his own way...

Actually, Trump may well be assuming that climate change is real. He may not be convinced that humans are contributing so much to it that the trend can be stopped by changing human behavior.

The really big problem facing governments is the desertification that already taking place and the mass migrations that are resulting from it.

Plants become drought resistant with increased CO2, they require less transpiration, not all studies for all plants show the same response of course. Satellite data indicate radically, far greater density of plant cover in the last 20 years than anyone predicted. The Sahal and other desert margin areas are shrinking as the plants encroach when it was predicted they would shrink as the desert expanded. Look at google earth using various years overlays at the Sahel and watch Europe, India, Africa turn greener, remarkable truly. My suspicion is that cheap fuel/gas is not only CO2 fertilizing the plants but also discouraging use of wood as fuel for heating and cooking. Carbon-hungry plants impede growth rate of atmospheric carbon dioxide.
The "pause" in warming is caused by plants

There will be areas that become drier, hotter deserts though and frozen areas may become bogs and begin to store massive amounts of carbon again which could throw everything into question.

“A lot of people who go into prison straight, and when they come out they’re gay.” -- Ben Carson

To paraphrase Taleb, Carson is educated, yet still an idiot -- or EYI for short ;)

As for the self-declared bible scholar "Two Corinthians" Trump, I don't believe he knows the difference between weather and climate:

"And actually, we’ve had times where the weather wasn’t working out, so they changed it to extreme weather, and they have all different names, you know, so that it fits the bill. But the problem we have, and if you look at our energy costs, and all of the things that we’re doing to solve a problem that I don’t think in any major fashion exists. I mean, Obama thinks it’s the number one problem of the world today. And I think it’s very low on the list. So I am not a believer, and I will, unless somebody can prove something to me, I believe there’s weather. I believe there’s change, and I believe it goes up and it goes down, and it goes up again. And it changes depending on years and centuries, but I am not a believer, and we have much bigger problems." (From the huffpost link above)

Ben Carson: “You go back to the very first chapter in the Bible -- and I’m not a hard and fast person who says the Earth is only 6,000 years old -- but I do believe in the six-day creation,” he said.

“It says, in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth,” continued Dr. Carson. “It doesn’t say when He created them except for in the beginning. The Earth could have been here for a long time before he started creating things on it.”

“But when He did start doing that, He made it very specifically clear to us: the evening and the morning were the next day,” said Carson. “Because He knew that people would come along and try to say, ‘oh, it was millions and millions of years.’”

More from Carson
He wants to turn the federal Department of Education into an "investigatory body" that would monitor college campuses for "extreme political bias.” If such "extreme" political bias was found, the school would lose its federal funding, he says, because it isn't right for public funding to "indoctrinate students in one direction." However, not realizing the obvious double standard, he reassures Republicans that only liberal political bias would be regulated, since "conservatism could never be considered an extreme ideology"http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/carson-sketches-out-plan-monitoring-campus-speech

Tom, you know I love Fred Reed, a man who loathes Trump:

Third, evolutionists are obsessed by Christianity and Creationism, with which they imagine themselves to be in mortal combat. This is peculiar to them. Note that other sciences, such as astronomy and geology, even archaeology, are equally threatened by the notion that the world was created in 4004 BC. Astronomers pay not the slightest attention to Creationist ideas. Nobody does—except evolutionists. We are dealing with competing religions—overarching explanations of origin and destiny. Thus the fury of their response to skepticism.

"...I found it pointless to tell them that I wasn’t a Creationist. They refused to believe it. If they had, they would have had to answer questions that they would rather avoid. Like any zealots, they cannot recognize their own zealotry. Thus their constant classification of skeptics as enemies (a word they often use)—of truth, of science, of Darwin, of progress.

This tactical demonization is not unique to evolution. “Creationist” is to evolution what “racist” is to politics: A way of preventing discussion of what you do not want to discuss. Evolution is the political correctness of science...."

The people who dont accept the scriptural descriptions of "the beginning" cant accept the knowledge via rote as the scriptures provide it...

So those people have to reason/rationalize or otherwise try to obtain that knowledge thru an active learning process...

What is being demonstrated is the difference between rote learning vs. active learning across both diverse topics and across diverse people....

Its the same thing with MMT or with what happened at 'the beginning'.... you can see different people learning by the two different methodologies...

We use active learning with MMT and get to the truth while the others use rote and are stuck in the false they cant get out of it... some are using rote via the scriptures to obtain knowledge of 'the beginning' while others cannot accept this via rote and are seeking that knowledge via an attempt at non-rote active learning process and reason...

Both ways are being demonstrated...

No, the world was not "created." That's a story. Greek mythos means story. It now signifies a cultural narrative in social science and history.

The best explanation at present in the scientific one.

There are three ages wrt to knowledge.

1. Mythological age. Emerged in prehistory with oral story telling and teaching tales.

2. Philosophical age. Began in the West with Thales of Miletus (c. 620 B.C.E.—c. 546 B.C.E.), an ionian Greek.

3. Scientific Age. Developed as a key feature of modernity.
