Fair to say the 'establishment' is getting out front of Trump on most issues and at least giving the impression that Trump's campaign positions are going to be watered down on Trump ...
but also Trump is not in office yet to do anything about it....

Is too early yet, I would wait a few months and see how things develop to see what's going to happen.
As I said in other post, Obama potential was higher to the downside, Trump potential is higher to the upside. But both had and have the potential to disappoint big time.
Trump has more potential to the upside because: a) the bar is set really low right now; b) the expectations about him are also very low.
I think he will be good in some fronts (foreign policy, and maybe, just maybe, trade policy), but potentially disastrous in other fronts, although not worse than what HRC would have been on most of those issues.
Ah another battle to monitor the Concordists (Trumpists) versus the Discordists (Neo-Liberals) except Trump is only half-Concordist and could go weak at the knees at a moment's notice (flip-flop)!
