Alt-Right calls Medicare for all

The complete set of tweets was

1. The irony of "Obamacare" was that the "individual mandate" was, in fact, The Heritage Foundation's "conservative" healthcare solution.

2. Obamacare has been unpopular because it's the "worst of both worlds": an arcane govt. overlay on top of an expensive "insurance" market.

3. Real "insurance" is something you don't expect to call on; modern "health insurance" is effectively subsidized pre-payment (or something).

4. While Obamacare is unpopular, Medicare--i.e., single-payer socialism--is wildly popular. "Conservatives" want to protect it, not repeal it.

5. My prediction is that, after the dust settles, America will end up with a single-payer solution, pitched as "Medicare for all."

Paradigm shift going on or is this Pat Buchanan style conservatism morphing into something else?

"The working class" that Democrats thinks of their base are NOT leftists and they are not even every liberal, especially socially. However, their economic interest are favored by government intervention is a system in which distribution is rationed by prices and they are relatively low income.

This is the tack that Steve Bannon is taking and if he is successfully he will take much of the so-called Democratic base away from the Democrats.

He is aiming at this and says that if he can do it, the realigned GOP will rule for the next fifty years.

It's a good plan. He just has to get it past the paleo-conservatives.

When O took office he had a chance to secure the Democrats for the next fifty years yet he did so poorly that now the Republicans may do it. When he took office Time and the media portrayed O as the next FDR but he turned out to be Bush III. Wouldn't it be funny if Trump turned out the be another FDR or Lincoln? Regardless, I will just be so glad to see that disgraceful person out of office.

I don't think I agree with Medicare for all, even though I will go on Medicare in another year. However, amid the proposals on the table for 'replacing' Obamacare, the question remains about what to do with the 20 million people who have signed up for insurance under ACA. Seems to me that one logical solution is simply to extend Medicare/Medicaid coverage to them and fund it via taxes that target the highest income earners, which will appeal politically to liberal progressives. That said, I know that under MMT orthodoxy taxes don't fund anything, but it's not worth the trouble trying to explain this fact to the electorate.

Nazis and Socialists are in favor of it; Republicans oppose it. Same old, same old.

db, I don't interpret his tweets here as necessarily advocating for it, imo he is predicting it....btw he's also predicting a crash/recession based on stochastic analysis...

He is trying to start a political movement and as such needs to think about what is popular, he sees Medicare as popular.... so you certainly don't want to be against it...

The thing he is seemingly ignorant of is the "how are we going to pay for it we are already out of money!" view ....

I don't see how Medicare gets extended with this libertarian view that "we're out of money!" still dominating.... although all these alt-right people are all reformed libertarians I don't see evidence yet that they have gotten this far away from the libertarian beliefs...

You can take the boy out of the libertarians but sometimes you just can't get all the libertarian out of the boy....

Spencer probably thinks we should go back under the metals.... he's up in Montana it's a big mining area... who knows...
