Noah Smith — Libertarianism's Time Has Come and Gone

Noah brings in the issue of power, and bullying as an example of it.

Libertarianism is based on individualism. Methodological individualism based on ontological individual is also the foundation of the neoclassical approach.

If Noah is correct, individualism as a foundational principle is on the way out.

Having just gone through a long period where libertarianism was never actually applied anywhere and where none of its opponents understood any of it is proof of its operation failure. That sounds right.

BS Bob this is a libertarian utopia we've been living in...

"Libertarianism is based on individualism."

Tom perhaps a geometric analogy to how you seem to be looking at it....

Maybe think of your 'individualism' as a point:

"A point is a thing, but it is not considered a place in math. There are no dimensions for a point, which means that it has no width or height."

Then from there is a line which uses points to define it:

"A line is a collection of points along a straight path "

Then there is a plane which is minimally defined by three non-linear points:

"In a Euclidean space a plane is uniquely determined by any of the following: Three non-collinear points (points not on a single line)."

The libertarian morons can only get as far as the point... they all must have failed geometry or never taken it what a bunch of dopes... #SAT375inMath

Bob how much math did you guys get in law school? Zero?

(Bob, fyi 'zero' is a N-U-M-B-E-R it means 'not any' in math...)

Could say the same for communism.

libertarianism: think of geometry BUT subtract planes and lines...

(maybe #SAT375inMath is too high....)

Libertarianism 101

1. Re: “Individualism”. Hey Mr. Franko, can you read other people’s minds? Feel their pain? Feel full when they eat? Hear the music they are listening to across town?

I’m fine with you attacking “individualism”. That’ll go far.

2. A funny money financed international war machine along with a war on drugs, a gigantic corporate welfare state, compulsory dumbed down schooling and universal government spying are genuine examples of libertarianism, right? That’s your argument? Pitiful.

Matt Franko said...

"A funny money blah..."

Could have just stopped right there the rest are dependent variables ... oh there is that pesky math again...

Here Bob save you the trouble of having to go back and get a real education:

Shitty Schools = f(funny money)

Mr. Franko:

Funny money IS NOT libertarian. Alleged failures or problems under such a system cannot be blamed upon libertarianism. My point is not particularly complicated or disputable.
