The WJC president wrote: “I was horrified to see photographs […] of young Ukrainians wearing the dreaded SS uniform with swastikas clearly visible on their helmets as they carried the caskets of members of this Nazi unit."

Chilling to see people again proudly wearing the insignias.

It's hard to believe that that these young fighters would support the atrocities and genocide we associate with Nazism along with the barbaric behavior of the German population during the war.
Maybe the symbols mean something else to Ukranian fighters?

The Nazi era was brief but successful foray of Europeans into the Russian sphere. Unfortunately last time, Ukraine got caught up in the racism and holocaust, ended up with famine and being completely stomped by the red army. So I'm not sure that even the most favorable revisionist view of the Nazi period should be glorified.

Watched the movie .... I see some neo-Nazis at the beginning, and then we cut to an awards ceremony where I see no Nazi symbols.

What is the evidence that he is awarding the neo-Nazi group? This looks like a crude propaganda mashup to me.

For what it's worth, Patriarch Filart responded to the WJC letter and assured Lauder that he does not support such things and that these "priests" had nothing to do with his church:
