Andrew Stewert: The Israel Lobby, the Syrian War and the Meaning of Empire

  1. This is probably one of the most informative articles I have ever read. The way the world is today is a mystery, but this solves some of the puzzle and ties the opposing parts together. Why the world wars, why Israel, and who are the Neocons and the neoliberals. That Israel and the Neocons don't control Washington, but that the Anglo-Saxon US oil-banking conglomerate does, which also controls Israel.

  2. To my mind, this claim about PNAC is the most mistaken diagnosis of power relations in regards to the Pentagon I have come across in a long time. What we are dealing with is a chicken-and-egg scenario, a question of whether PNAC controlled the Pentagon or whether the Pentagon created PNAC.
The idea that Zionism controls America is based in a romantic narrative of governance that is racist. The unstated thesis of the entire argument is “Once upon a time America was a benign, good place and then Zionism hijacked our foreign policy, taking us down a path we would otherwise not have walked.”
But that is pure white supremacist fantasy, a Disney vision of history
  3. There seems to be a series of debates going on in activist circles these days that are inter-connected, the continued plight of Alison Weir and her abysmal treatment by various NGOs and the issue of who to stand in solidarity with in regards to Syria. Both are informed essentially by one foundational theoretical point, the argument over the role of the neocons in Washington and the Project for a New American Century (PNAC), with a significant group of people seeing everything going on in the region rooted in the PNAC policy suggestions that led us down the road to the war on Iraq and continued the brutalization of the Palestinians under George W. Bush.
I think that, when we get right down to it, the ideas about PNAC are symptomatic of a kind of racism that needs to be squashed and by this I do not mean racism against white people, usually bandied about in the canard of anti-Semitism. No, what I refer to is a fundamental and irreconcilable delusion about America that only Dr. Gerald Horne and a few other scholars like Constance and Ned Sublette have dared challenge.

My smart phone is showing up a load of stuff that I edited out. So I don't know which version you will see. Notice the indexes? Something went wrong and it wasn't easy to edit.

I am sorry Kaivey but you should understand that the oil industry, nor America controls Israel. Stewart is a gatekeeper for Zionism who has turned history on its head. I am not a racist. This article is a polemic against American in favor of Zionism. Any American ought to recognize the Zionist propaganda in the article. Anyone who says that Obama tells Netanyahu what to do is either diluted or doesn’t understand how the world works. The problem with Syria is that it stands in the way of Israel gaining control of the Levant. Also, Assad blocks a gas pipeline between Qatar and the Mediterranean so he must go. Syria is to be broken like Iraq and Libya so that they won’t stand in the way of the Palestinian issue. That is the aim of the war on terror and the bombing of the world trade center. Check out this video. It would pay you to watch the whole thing.

Why is it so difficult to accept that the American and Israeli elite are of the same mind when it comes to the Middle East?

"The problem with Syria is that it stands in the way of Israel gaining control of the Levant."

It stands in the way of Israel securing its northern regions...

Israel still holds the Golan and has enough southern Lebanon now to provide pretty good security in the north... they certainly do not want to give any of that up but that is as far as it goes...

You have to be in Christendom in the US to understand the policy between US and Israel... if you are an atheist/agnostic you cant understand it...

idk about this Stewart guy but if he is atheist/agnostic he wont get it and will blame it on the "banksters!" or wtf....

@ Postkey

Right. I have posted to that effect previously.

In the regional picture, t's about who controls the Middle East and its resources and delivery systems.

In the big picture, it's about who controls the world.

On the whole, the imperial establishment in Washington are liberals. They're dangerous enough. Sometimes the neocons gain enough influence that they can take the US over the cliff the liberals have taken the country. The neocons are very influential within the Republican and Democratic parties. Since their inception, the neocons have been on the margins of policy making. When they are in a position to make policy, it's disastrous because they are dimwitted neanderthals.

Kaivey,

Postkey and Gary Hart are right. You're misinformed.
