There are solutions to water shortages, resource distribution, and the like. But war? No can do. It's like believing you can have life without violence. Too many billions living at or just above physiological sustenance to break out of that evolutionary pattern.
When parts of the middle become uninhabitable as a result of climate change, the solution will be to migrate. At which point a war will be waged to keep those migrants in no man's land. Today's refugees and the reaction to their plight are a preview.
In the meantime, John Helmer can sleep soundly, secure in the knowledge that Syria has the solutions it needs to be okay.

German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer called for a massive European Union (EU) force to occupy northern Syria, involving up to 40,000 troops.
