The Guardian - Beirut explosion destruction captured in drone footage

Aerial video captures the devastating impact of the explosion that left dozens dead and thousands injured in the Lebanese capital. The full scale of the blast is yet to be felt as rescue efforts continued the morning after the explosion flattened much of the city's port

Any serious investigation into the Beirut explosion should begin with forming a list of officials who were responsible, from director of port authority, to the director of customs and Army Intelligence which oversees security of the port. But there will be no accountabitly.

If the reports of 2,700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate are correct, the explosion in Beirut was roughly the equivalent of a 1 kilotonne (tactical) nuclear weapon. That’s quite a small nuke, but still—that gives a sense of the scale of the explosion.

No doubt Pentagon officials are mulling over this :(
