You know, if you have a vitamin D deficiency you probably have other vitamin deficiencies as well. I am saying this because our food is well fortified with vitamins in North America. If anything, we have too much.
Anyway, taking vitamins can do no harm... unless it's a fat soluble vitamin and you're taking too much, like vitamin D. So be careful and pop those tablets/soft gels accordingly :)

As I understand it, levels of vit D were measured from samples of hospitalized COVID patients and there was a relationship between severity of disease as well as mortality and Vit D levels. Not surprising. Vit D is important for proper function of immune system. Calling it a cure is obviously wrong.

Every adult should take 10,000 IU of vitamin D per day, except the elderly, who should take twice that amount — 20,000 IU/day — due to their greater risk of dying from Covid and their lower absorption of vitamin D.

Vit D supplements have been recommended for years . Especially for those over 50-60 I should probably start taking them but I think my dietary intake and my regular sunnexposure probably suffices. I have never even checked my levels but I think I will start. My wife has regularly for last decade.
Vitamin D is added to milk. I doubt I'm getting 10 grand.
