An economics, investment, trading and policy blog with a focus on Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). We seek the truth, avoid the mainstream and are virulently anti-neoliberalism.
It's true that Washington has a really weak position here. What are they going to say, "Hey, Russia is destabilizing the Middle East but fighting against the crazy jihadists - America's enemies in the GWOT."
Washington motivated Russia into active opposition by crossing red lines, and it's in the process of doing the same for China. This is not only imperial hubris, it's stupid and clearly cynical, to the degree it is costing soft power. Moreover, having to climb down just emboldens the hawks and crazies.
