Pepe Escobar — Peace in Syria? It’s Putin’s Fault

Updated details on Syria you probably won't find easily elsewhere. This game is rapidly in flux now that Russia is becoming more assertive as it sees ISIS/Deash as an threat to its interests in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

It's a strange world when I find myself agreeing with my former classmate.

You went to school with Pat Buchanan?

He often makes sense on foreign policy, and seems to be halfway knowledgeable about history. On domestic policy he's a dinosaur.

He cut his teeth in politics as speechwriter for Nixon/Agnew when Kissinger was National Security Advisor. He is steeped in Realpolitik and hates the neocons, whom he regards as inept and foolish.

I didn't know him well when we were undergrads together. We didn't hang out in the same crowd and he took different courses than I did.
