John McCain has likened the alleged effort by Russia to an act of war—is the first salvo in what will be a relentless campaign by the Republican and Democratic establishment, along with its corporatist allies and the mass media, to destroy the credibility of the president-elect and prepare the way for impeachment.…

The final task of the report is to give the Democratic Party plausible cover for the catastrophic election defeat it suffered. Clinton initially blamed FBI Director James Comey for the loss before switching to the more easily demonized Putin. The charge of Russian interference essentially boils down to the absurd premise that perhaps hundreds of thousands of Clinton supporters suddenly decided to switch their votes to Trump when they read the leaked emails of Podesta. Either that or they tuned in to RT America and decided to vote for the Green Party.

The last sentence in the next to last paragraph sums this all up:

So basically, these intelligence agencies wasted time and pulled some report out of their asses and sat around and watched videos from Russia Today and then embellished the story more and more to make it seem like Russia "hacked" the election. Any moron could have done that.
The establishment and deep state are becoming unhinged over RT and Sputnik. They don't see that they are losing the level control of the narrative that they enjoyed before the digital age started shifting interest from traditional media to the Internet, social networking and social media.
They are still thinking in terms of traditional media and see RT and Sputnik as the "competition" of the NYT and Washington Post. Curiously, they did not mention Breitbart, too. But they went after the while alternative media in the PropOrNot fiasco that backfired on them.
They are clueless. The world has passed them by. I would feel sorry for them if they didn't so richly deserve it.
