An economics, investment, trading and policy blog with a focus on Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). We seek the truth, avoid the mainstream and are virulently anti-neoliberalism.
The ruling elite are psychopaths who start war for business reasons, and then millions of patriarchs will march to their death for them.
There is no reason at all to attack Iran, this has to be Israeli led. What Israel gets away with is unbelievable, imagine if Russia holed up millions on in an open prison. How would you feel if someone took you off your land and took your house saying that they lived there 2000 years ago. A massive injustice has been done.
We havent had anything to do with Iran in like 35 years...
And the Soviet backed Ayatollahs overthu the Shah who was US backed and anti Soviet... this was a cold war thing which btw was over 25 years ago when the USSR collapsed...
Wait till we go EVs in a few years and we can get the hell out of that shit hole over there for good...
Second largest oil reserve, light and sweet, highly profitable. But the real point of controlling it is to control who gets to use it. Strategic resource.
This is all about controlling the ME, where the oil and gas is, ousting the Iranian government and replacing with a Western puppet like the Shah (the good old days after MI 6 and the CIA over through the democratically elected government), and, of course, Israel.
This is the basis of the view of Iran, Iraq and Syria as art of the axis of evil along with NK.
It's the neocons and Zionists that pushing the Iran things. Seems to work on some people.
It's also the basis of Thomas Barnett's geostrategic theory of the core (developed countries) and the periphery (underdeveloped). The core has it together and the periphery doesn't and likely won't get it together because they are dysfunctional. So the core has to take them over and civilize them (make them Western).
It's pretty much a replay of the white man's burden, and the justification of colonization as bringing salvation to the otherwise lost souls by gifting them with Christianity. Instead the US is bringing "freedom and democracy" — through imposition of capitalism (read neoliberalism, neo-imperialism, and neocolonialism).
A key aspect of the theory from the military POV is that if these countries don't submit "to US largess" when faced with US power, then they need to be destroyed in order to save them, or at least destabilized so the chaos can justify US right to protect independently of the UN acting, which Russia and China can block.

The US inflicted the Shah and then the Ayatollah on them, wouldn't you be angry too?

F***ing right, we don't want anything to do with the ME.

It's also not "even" with them...
